Taste your way around this gourmet paradise at these five incredible eateries.

Not only is Margaret River a surfer’s paradise and wine-lover’s dream, but it’s also a gourmet hotspot. From  hidden gems to lauded restaurants, the region boasts a plethora of foodie experiences that make use of some of the finest seasonal and local produce. Honestly, there are so many fantastic places to choose from you could spend a solid month wining and dining your way around Margaret River. Sounds tough, we know. However, we’ve managed to narrow it down to our top picks ‒ you know, if you don’t have a spare month up your sleeves.
1. Tuck ShopRight in the heart of Margaret River, Tuck Shop is a foodie hotspot well-loved by locals and visitors alike. At first glance, its relaxed vibe and friendly staff suggest simple, casual fare. Trust us, the food is anything but. The menu is divided into two styles of cooking: from the kitchen and from the woodfired oven, both serving up mouth-watering dishes with beautiful presentation and creative combinations of flavours and textures. Built around the best fresh local produce available, succulent seafood, Margaret River wagyu and kangaroo meat all feature prominently on the tantalising menu. Recent highlights include the Abrolhos Islands scallops served in a toasty coconut butter, the West Coast octopus generously drizzled with chipotle seasoning, and cauliflower with candied beetroot and sherry-glazed dates. Enjoy with a glass of wine from the locally inspired list, a classic cocktail or a refreshing brew from the regularly rotating selection on tap.
2. Vasse Felix

Want to take your palate to new culinary heights? Then lunch at the Vasse Felix Restaurant is a must. One of the original dining establishments in Margaret River, the two-hatted, multi award-winning restaurant at the celebrated Vasse Felix winery remains a regional pioneer in food and fine dining.

With views overlooking the estate’s original vineyards, the stylish dining offers a spectacular setting to discover the flavours and textures of the region, paired with some of Margaret River’s preeminent wines. A stunning example of Modern Australian dining, the menu combines cutting-edge techniques with the region’s local, produce, which changes as frequently as new ingredients become available. Guests can choose their own adventure with the a la carte menu ‒ try some of the best broccoli of your life, served up with fig leaf, wakame and curd. Or allow the chefs to take you on a culinary journey with the tasting menu and optional paired wines. It goes without saying that the wine list is superb, featuring current and museum wines from the  iconic Vasse Felix range.

3. Burnt Ends at Beerfarm“From Earth to plate.” This is the philosophy at Beerfarm, where working with the land and the environment cultivates good times, food and drinks for every occasion. At their eatery Burnt Ends, this translates as an emphasis on making delicious food using fresh, local produce, sourced from neighbouring farms, small business and high-quality Aussie producers. The menu offers classic gastro pub-style fare ‒ hot chips and handmade aioli, crispy fried lamb ribs, fish tacos with tangy salsa and juicy Angus burgers – as well as tasty bistro fare. Dig into a fresh duck and watermelon salad, a sweet potato and chickpea bowl, or a sumptuous dish  of crab spaghettini. It’s all perfect for sharing with friends and family (though we totally understand if you want that spaghettini for yourself). And don’t forget to pair it all with a refreshing Beerfarm brew.
4. Cullen Wines

Cullen Wines was one of the first wineries in Margaret River to offer visitors a taste of the local fare, putting together simple soups, pastries and cheese platters. Today, the offering has evolved, however the emphasis on homegrown, agri-dining remains unchanged. Housed in Cullen's impressive Biodynamic Wine Room, the restaurant overlooks the historic vineyard. The elegant decor evokes a connection to the earth, with a pared-back granite and timber farmhouse aesthetic, making for a truly immersive dining experience.

Like the winery, the restaurant incorporates biodynamic practices, serving up food that is deeply connected to its source – vegetables are harvested daily from the restaurant's biodynamic kitchen gardens, and lovingly prepared by head chef Charlie Chen’s. The tasting menu is one of the most imaginative out there, showcasing the best of Margaret River over four incredible courses, with dishes like confit fennel and goat’s cheese, regional wagyu beef and celeriac puree and honey mousse made with help of local bees. Level up your lunch with the wine-pairing option, with a selection of current and museum release wines that highlight the vineyard’s characteristically fresh, rich whites and subtle, deep reds that result from Cullen’s low-yielding vines.

5. Leeuwin EstateLunch at Leeuwin Estate is a true  experience. As one of the original winery restaurants in Margaret River, it has forged a reputation for serving up creative cuisine, superb service and unbeatable views that have visitors and locals coming back time and again. With sweeping verandahs, the dining room overlooks a meadow surrounded by a forest of majestic karri trees. The menu proudly puts Margaret River on a plate, changing with the seasons to showcase the best of the region's local ingredients in dishes such as sweet and sour Peking duck rolls, and perfectly cooked eye fillet, served with roasted beets and mushroom truffle. Diners have the choice between a three-course and  six-course seasonal menu, with the option to complete the experience with wine pairings from the current and museum release Leeuwin Estate wines.
