Not just a storage unit, bar carts are designed to serve and entertain from, here’s how to style one that works for you.
Now, all this doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun with your bar cart. It is, afterall a great place to express your style. The trick is to decorate in a way that won’t impede the functionality of the space. Top stylists recommend a great rug underneath the cart, or a standout artwork on the wall above your cart to make it a focal point. On the cart itself, opt for decorative bar and glassware: a glamorous Champagne bucket, an ornate bottle opener, shell coasters, tinted coup glasses, a fancy cocktail shaker, a drinks tray, placemats or cocktail napkins — the options really are endless, just make sure you choose items you’ll use. Ingredients are great to use as decor. A pomegranate or two, a bowl of lemons or oranges (particularly if you’re partial to an Aperol spritz) add colour and make your space look contemporary. And because there is always an exception to the rule, fresh flowers are welcome on a bar cart. Not at all practical, but flowers add height and life, and they always make a space look beautiful, so they get a pass.
