You can find it on the shelves (and in the coolrooms) at Dan’s.
It was only two months ago that we rolled out the orange carpet for Hard Rated Orange, an adult Sunkist-in-a-can. And you already know how we feel about the OGs: Hard Rated Lemon and Hard Rated Lemon Lime. Well, just when you thought your Hard Rated family was complete, the team has gone and done it again. That’s right, just in time for al-fresco season, Hard Rated Lemon Pineapple has joined the zero-sugar line-up.
So, what does it taste like? If you’ve been lucky enough to secure Solo’s Lemon Pineapple soft drink, then you’ll get it. Of course, the Hard Rated Lemon Pineapple has been crafted with a neutral spirit to make it, well, Hard Rated. It tastes like a pineapple icy pole with a squeeze of lemon, and even though it’s a no-sugar sibling, it’s sweeter than it is tangy. Now, we’re not one to pick favourites, but Hard Rated Lemon Pineapple has gone straight to the top of our list (just don’t tell the others).
Where to take it
Let us set the scene: you’ve just gotten home from the beach, it’s about 6pm and the sun is still shining (we love you daylight savings). If you’re feeling like a home-cooked feast, we reckon it’s taco night – is this the time for a hard or soft shell poll? Maybe not – pack those babies in, top them with pineapple salsa and go hard on the chilli because the new citrus-tropical-adult-soda can take it. Then, you need the essential sides: chargrilled corn, lots of guac and refried beans.
Can’t think of anything worse than cooking? Pull up that Chinese takeaway menu. Pineapple and lemon is obviously the theme, so an order of sticky pineapple chicken is a must. The chicken is coated in a crispy batter and fried up with peppers, onions and chunks of pineapple, bound together by a sweet, caramelised glaze. We’ll also need a serve of lemon chicken (extra lemon sauce, please) and a large fried rice. The fizzy goodness that comes from the Hard Rated will cut right through the sticky sweetness of the dishes. Yum. By now that sun fatigue has definitely set in, you’re full and tired, but there’s always room for dessert, right? It has to be pineapple fritters served with vanilla ice cream (go boujee on your ice cream, please).
