A line-up of products that are on offer at Dan Murphy's for Black Friday

The savings are back – get ready for party season with these top picks.

The only thing better than a great drink? When it comes at an equally great price. Thankfully, with Black Friday returning for another year, we’re happy to give My Dan’s members a healthy dose of both. This year, we have a massive selection of Black Friday offers running until 3 December, but new deals will be dropping daily, so be sure to keep your ear to the ground.

Below, we’ve listed some of the best deals from this year’s Black Friday selection, with everything from craft beer and new premixed drinks to award-winning wines and locally made spirits – all at incredible prices. Because nobody beats Dan’s, not even on Black Friday.

Charles Orban Blanc de Blancs Champagne

Wine

1.  Charles Orban Blanc de Blancs Champagne

Vigneron Charles Orban is from a long line of Champagne growers stretching back to 1770. He started his own eponymous label in the 1950s, with a focus on boutique quality and growing all the grapes in-house – something of a rarity for the bigger producers. Drops like this blanc de blancs (a term for Champagne made from 100% chardonnay) clearly punch above the accessible price (especially factoring in those Black Friday discounts), with bright acidity and citrusy flavours backed up with some richer notes like brioche and cashew.
$56.99 Each

2. Xanadu Reserve Chardonnay

There’s something magical about Margaret River chardonnay, and few producers do it better than Xanadu. This Reserve Chardonnay comes from Xanadu’s oldest vineyard (the Lagan Estate) and the low-yielding vines give it some powerfully concentrated flavours. You’re getting zippy grapefruit, juicy pear and a racy acidity, and it’s about as good as Aussie chardonnay gets – especially at this price.

Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz 2023

3.  Grant Burge Filsell Shiraz 2023

Is there a more iconic Australian wine style than Barossa shiraz? We don’t think so, and wines like the Grant Burge Filsell are up there with the best of them. The 2023 vintage was a late one in Barossa for winegrowers, with intensely flavoured and powerfully aromatic wines the pay-off for their patience. The 2023 Filsell is all that and more, with flavours like chocolate, cola, vanilla and rich red fruits. These are seriously good cellaring wines, too, and will keep improving and evolving for at least a decade.

Beer

4. Wrexham Lager 4.0

The craft beer evolution has been amazing – it’s brought us new styles of beer, inventive techniques and a big focus on potent flavours. But there’s still a place for the classics, and Wrexham Lager is an excellent example. The brewery was founded in Wales 1881 by German migrants and, despite the changing fashions of beer in the interim, Wrexham Lager has stayed happily old-school. It’s crisp, clean and there’s a subtle bitterness from European hops. What else could you want in a lager?

The Rover Henty St Ale

5.  Rover Henty St Ale

There’s not a lot of action on Henty Street in Melbourne’s northern suburb of Reservoir, but there is Hawkers, the brewery that makes Rover’s ultra-drinkable Henty Street Ale. Compared to the flavour bombs of the regular Hawkers line-up, the Rover range is a little more geared towards fresh, easy-going beers. That’s exactly what you'll get with the Henty Street Ale, which has a decent whack of tropical hop flavours and a clean drinking profile that makes it the ultimate summer barbecue beer.

6. Your Mates Brewing Co. Larry Pale Ale

Your Mates Brewing founders Christen McGarry and Matt Hepburn started out with the simple goal of bringing mates together, and beers like their Larry Pale Ale make an ideal backdrop for any sort of party, hangout or catch-up. As you’d expect from a couple of Queenslanders, Larry Pale Ale is loaded with tropical and citrusy hop flavours, and a light body. Fresh from a top-10 placing in the 2024 GABS Hottest 100, it’s fair to say that Larry is a mate to all of us now.

Premixes

7. Jose Cuervo Coconut Sparkling Margarita

Creamy, toasty coconut flavours make a welcome addition to a classic Margarita – something we’ve told you about before. And while it’s great to make your own, we  also love the convenience of a premixed coconut Marg – especially when it’s given the sparkling treatment, as in this winner from Jose Cuervo. Serve it over plenty of ice with a big slice of lime and thank us later.

8. Kirin Hyoketsu Vodka Soda Pineapple

Kirin is best known for making ultra-crisp Japanese lagers and while we’re a big fan of those, we’re extremely glad they’ve thrown their hat into the fruity premix ring. With its Hyoketsu Vodka Soda Pineapple, Kirin uses a technique called ‘hyoten toketsu’, which basically means they freeze fruit (in this case, pineapple) to keep it fresh and flavoursome before adding it to the drink. The result is a juicy, pineapple-y vodka premix that’s destined for any outdoor drinking occasions you care to name.

Canadian Club Lemon Crush Whisky

9. Canadian Club Lemon Crush Whisky

There’s a reason we can’t get enough of the Whiskey Sour – lemon and whiskey are a sneaky dream team that blend so well. And while we love mixing our own at home, we’re happy to get our zesty whisky fix in a can, thanks to this new guy from Canadian Club. Here, light and smooth Canadian Club whisky is blended with sweet, zippy lemon flavours and some fresh carbonation. Watch out Canadian Club and Dry, you’ve got a serious competitor.

Spirits

10. PATRON Añejo Tequila

Añejo is a bit like the whisky of the tequila world – it’s aged in oak, has extra richness and is best appreciated as a straight sipper. Few añejo tequilas are as good as this example from the legendary Patron distillery, especially at this Black Friday price. The secret here is the ageing, with Patron letting their spirit spend 12 months in a combo of French and Hungarian oak and American whiskey barrels, picking up subtle sweetness, vanilla flavours and spicy notes. While we recommend serving this añejo neat, it would also make an excellent sub for whiskey in any of your favourite cocktails.

The Archie Rose Distilling Co. Bone Dry Gin

11. Archie Rose Distilling Co. Bone Dry Gin

In the world of gin, juniper is king. The tiny berry is the main flavour of gin and, while there is a stack of other accompanying botanicals in the Archie Rose Bone Dry Gin, that spicy juniper kick is dialled up. Using a unique copper pot/column hybrid vacuum still, the Archie Rose team gives Macedonian juniper three separate distillations. The result is a powerfully herbaceous gin that truly captures the magic of juniper, making the Bone Dry ideal for classic serves like a Gin and Tonic or Martini.
$75.99 each

12. Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin

We’re big fans of this classic. Four Pillars really started something big when they decided to infuse their gin with the inky fruitiness of Yarra Valley shiraz grapes. That was back in 2015 and what was intended as a seasonal one-off has evolved into a staple of liqueur-style gins, with just about every distillery now doing their own take on the concept. No one can beat the original, though, with the Bloody Shiraz combining rich sweetness, jammy fruit flavours and the subtle bitterness of grape tannins to create a gin that works just as well over ice as it does in a Negroni, a Gin and Tonic or a custom cocktail.

A bottle of Nikka WHiskey From the Barrel

13. Nikka Whisky From The Barrel

Beyond its charmingly squat, square bottle, there’s plenty to love about Nikka’s From The Barrel. Seasoned whisky lovers will enjoy the sweet floral aromas and fruity, oaky flavours, as well as the elevated alcohol percentage (51.4% ABV), which gives this some real concentration and depth. But this is also a great introduction for Japanese whisky rookies, being smooth and approachable (despite its higher alcohol concentration). It’s a great candidate for straight sipping as well as easy-drinking highballs.
