Inside the newly revamped Central Club Hotel in Melbourne

Fresh-look fit-outs, same old charm – take a trip to these new-and-improved venues around town.

What are the signs of a great pub makeover? How do you zhush up an old favourite and give it new life without losing its long-time appeal? If you’re after a lesson in how it can be done the right way, take a good look around Melbourne. From the north to the south and everywhere in between, pubs across the city have recently reopened with a whole new ’do, all while keeping their previous highlights in check. In fact, in some cases, they’re even better.

Take, for example, the North Fitzroy Arms. This backstreet gem now serves up an incredible selection of dishes and drinks that have lifted this to a destination that makes crossing town worthwhile. Over in Brunswick, the Sporting Club Hotel has also been given the best kind of makeover, thanks to the savvy folk behind the Marquis of Lorne and Royal Oak. As a result, it now has an exciting new chapter ahead of it, just as its patrons do. And the list goes on.

So, if you’re after a recently refreshed venue that hits all the highs of what you want in a great local, we’ve rounded up some of the latest and greatest pub refurbs across Melbourne.
