With limited funds and a bajillion offers to choose from, the struggle is real. Lucky our curated monthly edit of seriously good finds has your back.

You might not realise it amid the cacophony of shiny glass bottles, colourful labels and price tags, but walking into your average Dan’s store exposes you to hundreds (if not thousands) of exclusive My Dan’s member offers at any one time. It’s a heck of a lot for even the most passionate home bartenders to process – let alone those of us who just want to pick up a brilliant bottle of wine or spirits at a great price.

How, then, do you separate the good deals from the truly phenomenal? You come to us, of course. It’s our literal jobs to know all the best drinks, so our Editor has done the hard yards of sifting through every single member offer this month to whittle it down to the very best 12. These are the things we’re truly excited about, the things we’d be buying even if they weren’t on offer, made all the sweeter by that special exclusive price. And you can score them too, simply by virtue of being a free My Dan’s member. To paraphrase Vince Vaughn in Swingers: it’s money, baby!

1. 23rd St Distillery Red Citrus Gin

Adding a flavoured or coloured gin to your bar cart is a great way to add a distinctive twist to classic cocktails, and South Australia’s own 23rd St Distillery (who, FYI, just picked up a slew of awards at the San Francisco World Spirits Awards) have created the perfect bottle to diversify your gin portfolio. 23rd St’s Red Citrus Gin is all about delivering a big hit of juicy, tangy flavour thanks to the addition of Riverland blood oranges, cara cara navels and spicy botanicals that bring a little complexity to every sip. With a chunk of its usual sticker price, this is an undeniable deal. Just add tonic.

2. Glenkinchie 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky

Glenkinchie is one of the true gems of the Scottish Lowlands – a region known for its gentler flavours, rather than the heavy salty and peaty flavours you might traditionally associate with Scotch. Glenkinchie's 12 Year Old is their flagship bottle, famed for its sweeter profile and approachability, and it’s a brilliant introduction to this delicious region. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, expect that characteristic Lowlands lightness, with notes of vanilla, green apple, and stewed fruits, plus an almost creamy finish. Smooth stuff at a ripper price.

Dolin’s Red Vermouth is an icon for a reason: they’ve been pumping out dependable, high quality vermouth for years, making it a mainstay in many of the world’s most iconic and prestigious bars. This French classic is a Negroni essential, so if you’re in need of a restock, there’s never been a better time to pick up a bottle or two. As ever though, make sure you keep it in the fridge.

4. RedLeg Ginger & Pineapple Spiced Rum

Like a boozy, upside-down pineapple cake in a bottle, RedLeg know exactly what flavours to use to make their Ginger & Pineapple Spiced Rum shine. Warming Jamaican ginger and bright pineapple combine with the natural caramelised sweetness of RedLeg’s classic spiced rum to create something that’s as delicious in a tropical rum cocktail as it is sipped neat. If you’re after a fun winter warmer, this is our top pick.

5. Four Pillars Fresh Yuzu Gin & Soda cans

Four Pillars secured their place as Victoria’s gin kingpins for good reason, and if you’re a fan of this white spirit, they’ll already have a familiar place in your bar cart. But it’s their canned Fresh Yuzu Gin & Soda that’s got us giddy this month. Aussie distilleries have been pumping out many a brilliant premix of late, and Four Pillars have absolutely understood the assignment here. Featuring their Yuzu Gin alongside a dose of soda and even more fresh yuzu, these portable beauties are a surefire winner and a total bargain right now.

6. El Toro Lime Ranch Water Cans

“What the hell is ranch water?”, we hear you ask. Just your next favourite thing, mate. Effectively Texas’s take on a highball, ranch water is a mix of tequila, lime and soda. It’s long been the unofficial cocktail of the Lone Star State, and now it’s finally schlepped its way across to our shores. El Toro’s Lime Ranch Water has a blanco tequila base, with a limey, seltzer-y twist for a light, refreshing and zingy drinking experience. On offer for My Dan’s members at the moment, you can’t go wrong giving it a go.

8. Jamsheed Seville Yarra Valley Syrah 2016

We can’t stress it enough – the current price of this exceptional drop is making us absolutely lose our minds. Another favourite of our Editor’s, Jamsheed wines are some of the most exciting in the country and winemaker Gary Mills has had a major influence on the new generation. Their Seville Yarra Valley Syrah is dark and plummy, with a perfect combo of old world structure and new world ripeness. It’s unfiltered, unfined and utterly delicious – and these are the last of the 2016 vintage, so you'll need to get in ASAP. Scoring this kind of wine at any price is a winner in anyone’s book, but at $25 it’s an absolute triumph.

9. Domäne Wachau Terrassen Federspiel Grüner Veltliner

If you’re yet to hop aboard Austria’s grüner veltliner train, get your tickets before this choo-choo leaves the station. Bad train metaphors aside, sightings of grüner on cutting-edge wine lists have been growing for some time and Domäne Wachau’s Terrassen Federspiel Grüner Veltliner is an excellent example. It’s fresh, structured and tastes like a tart green apple on a summer’s day. A more exciting choice for those who might normally opt for a riesling or savvy b.

10. Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

Italian wine varietals can prompt confusion among all but the most seasoned wine drinkers, but if there’s one thing that’s clear it’s that the Carpineto Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is properly mouthwatering. A Tuscan blend of sangiovese and canaiolo grapes, it’s aged for over two years in oak barrels, then bottle-aged a further year before release. That means by the time it gets to you it’s rich in flavours of plum, cherry and cedary oak, with a long finish that lends itself perfectly to pairing with your next pasta cook-up.

11. Thousand Candles Yarra Valley Pét Nat

For those arvos when you’re not enjoying a pét nat at one of Australia’s darling wine bars, it helps to have a bottle or two waiting in the fridge. The Yarra Valley Pét Nat from Thousand Candles is on high rotation around these parts (‘these parts’ being Dan’s Daily HQ), because we love just how fun and approachable it is. A blend of pinot noir, shiraz and sauvignon blanc, this natural fizzer goes down a treat, especially at $17.

12. Clyde Park Estate Pinot Noir

A dependable pinot noir is about as much of a guaranteed crowd-pleaser as it’s possible to get. Clyde Park Estate, hailing from Geelong, Victoria, nails the brief with this medium-bodied pinot that balances the grape’s characteristic dryness with juicy red fruit and subtle spice. Perfect for those campfire barbecues as the cooler weather sets in. Good pinot doesn’t come cheap, so if this is normally out of your budget, now’s the time to strike.
