Forget Santa’s nice list – if you’re a My Dan’s member, Lara’s got the only list you need right here.
Lara is the Editor in Chief of Dan’s Daily. Each month, she scours the list of 300+ My Dan’s member offers to find her favourite deals – the bottles you’ll definitely want to grab while the price is right. Join My Dan’s for free to get low prices, exclusive offers and access to member-only events and experiences.
Santa’s not here yet – he’s busy loading up the sleigh and debating the Christmas playlist with Mrs Claus – but I sure am. And, as always, I’ve done the hard yards sipping my way through the drinks on My Dan’s member offer right now to find you the best of the bunch.
For this month’s column, I’m zeroing in on holiday-season wines. ’Tis the season of serious brain fog, so figuring out what to serve and celebrate with is a task I’d love to take off your hands (so you can focus on crafting the perfect charcuterie board). Below, find four certified bangers you’ll be proud to plonk on the table, wrap up under the tree, or bring along to Friendsmas, knowing full well you’ve saved some hard-earned cash.
Have a read, whip out your My Dan’s card, then head in-store or online to nab these deals before they end on Jan 1.
1. For the table: Hither & Yon McLaren Vale Grenache Mataro
If you’re wondering which wine to serve with Christmas lunch, or any other of the myriad food-based get-togethers this time of year, I’ve got you. This Grenache Mataro from Hither & Yon is totally delicious – think bright berry flavours with a rich earthiness to back it up – and cracking with almost any food, especially braised or grilled meats.
Bonus points come thanks to Hither & Yon’s genuine green cred. Founding brothers Richard and Malcolm Leask have long been pioneers in sustainable viticulture, biodiversity and regenerative agriculture, and, as of 2021, the winery has been totally carbon neutral. Red with a side of green? Sounds like Christmas to me.

2. For your good mate: Duckhorn Decoy Chardonnay
Good mates deserve good gifts. If you were my good mate, this is what I’d want you to give me. Hailing from California, Duckhorn are serious Napa Valley icons. Their wines have only just landed in Australia (exclusively at Dan’s – yessir) and I am thrilled, to say the least.
This Decoy Chardonnay is a charming balance between tropical, citrusy freshness and subtle custardy, buttery goodness. Honestly, it’s such a winner – even more so at this price.

3. For your great mate: Cullen Diana Madeline
Got a mate that helped you move house, picked you up from the airport AND brought you chicken soup when you were sick? If there’s someone on your list that you need to go all out for, may I suggest getting them one of the most prized reds in the country? Cullen’s Diana Madeline is a biodynamic, Bordeaux-inspired masterpiece (it’s a cabernet-based blend) and each release is seriously hot property.
This is THE gift for the true wine lover – a proper cellar centrepiece that’ll only get better after two or three decades. A pressie like this puts you in the good books for life, and they’ll have no idea you nabbed it at a special member’s-only price.
Non-member price: $159.99
Member price: $145
4. For celebrating: Joseph Perrier Cuvée Royale Champagne Magnum
All you're missing is a wine for celebrating and nothing says “OMG, we made it to the end of the year!” more than a giant bottle of top-notch Champagne. I dare you not to get into the holiday spirit the second you pop the cork on one of these.
Joseph Perrier’s Cuvée Royale Champagne is excellent (all 1.5L of it). This trusted Champagne house has been family run for nearly 200 years and it’s also one of the few with a female cellar master. This is light, bright and dry – complex but delicate. Celebrate saving some hard-earned cash at the same time by scoring it while it’s at this price.
