1. Brunch: Make Cosmo Bellinis

If you’re doing brunch, you need an easy brunch cocktail. My current obsession is a Cosmo Bellini hybrid that’s as pretty as Mum.

All you need is 30mL of cranberry juice, 30mL of peach puree (just blitz some tinned peaches), 10mL of peach schnapps and prosecco to top. If you’re unsure about schnapps, let me tell you, you are going to want to pour De Kuyper Peach Schnapps on everything. That bottle won’t last long. Shake everything up (except the bubbles) with ice, strain it into a flute, and top with a tasty prosecco, like the highly affordable and highly delicious Grant Burge (down to $15 from $21.99). Chef’s kiss.

2. Lunch: Stylish savvy b

Some cliches are true and here’s one of ‘em: Mums love a savvy b. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. But if you’re looking for a wine to have with lunch, let’s keep it interesting for the whole family by taking it back to its roots.

Sauvignon blanc originated in France’s Loire Valley region. The Patient Cottat Anciennes Vignes comes from the sub-region of Pouilly-Fumé – known for its vibrant, lively savs with rich fruity citrus flavours and a little bit of smoke. It’s good stuff (and even better when it’s on member offer).

3. Dinner: Truly versatile wine

Now, if you’re doing dinner for Mum, what you want to drink depends on what you want to eat – but there are a few wines that do a damn fine job of going with nearly everything.

I think grenache is an underrated contender for most versatile food wine. Chapel Hill’s The MV Bush Vine Grenache is a winner. It’s definitely a modern, juicier, more delicate style, but with all sorts of layers. There’s enough depth to go with a meaty meal, but it’s light enough that it’s not going to overpower gentler dishes – especially if you serve it chilled.

Member price: $25 | Non-member price: $29.99

4. Gift: A caffeinated surprise

Last but not least, you’ve gotta get Mum a gift. The best gifts are a bit special, right up their alley, and something they wouldn’t have bought for themselves. Something like Mr Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur

There’s no artificial stuff in here – it’s just top-quality, cold-pressed, single-origin coffee with Aussie wheat vodka and a bit of sugar to bring just enough sweetness (a lot less than some brands). Mum will love this straight over ice, or in a round of Espresso Martinis – that you’ll be making for her, of course.

Member price: $49 | Non-member price: $69.99
