We talk to the F1 legend all about his new rosé and the relaxed philosophé that comes with it.
Here’s a surprise for you: Daniel Ricciardo is taking things slow. The man known for pushing the limits at breakneck speed is embracing a different kind of thrill – the art of taking it easy. A writer who’s less addicted to poorly executed F1 references might say he’s taken his foot off the gas, pacing himself through the turns, or running a cool-down lap. But if you ask the man himself? He’s on a mission to live his best Enchanté life, with a chilled glass of his brand new rosé in hand.
What does that even mean? Well, Enchanté is the name of wine, but it’s also an invitation to chill all the way out, say “How’s it going?” to something new, and live every day like it’s a breezy arvo in the South of France. We can definitely get around this philosophy (philosophé, if you will), so we sat Daniel down to teach us all about his new way of life and the rosé that’s led him to it.
Watch: Asking Daniel Ricciardo the tough questions
For Daniel, Enchanté is more than just a word on the label of a wine bottle (and his lifestyle apparel line) – it’s a vibe, it’s a lifestyle, it’s a whole new way of tackling things for someone who’s used to going fast. “Living the Enchanté life is all about slowing down a little, trying something new and enjoying the ride,” explains Daniel. “Although I’ve stepped away from the racetrack, the calendar is still full. Fewer flights, but I’m keeping myself busy while also balancing the Enchanté life.” He plans to indulge his obsession with the NFL (Daniel is a hardcore Buffalo Bills fan – “Go Bills!”), spend more time on two wheels (he’s also an avid motorbiker) and, according to the Enchanté launch campaign, newfound interests in croquet and crochet may also get a look in.
Ultimately, it means throwing out the stresses of life (email notifications, counting macros, and caring what people think included) and embracing the niche hobbies that truly make you feel good. “Surround yourself with your people and maybe try that thing you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t had the time,” says Daniel. “It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone. For me, one of these things is being involved in my winemaking, creating something I’m proud of and can be shared with those I love most.”

How does the rosé stack up against his deliciously brooding cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, and secret Ric Red blend? This is contemporary rosé and, much like Daniel, it feels distinctly Australian – though it also reminds the eight-time Grand Prix winner of the days following his Monaco races, when he’d finally have the chance to let his hair down. So, if Enchanté Rosé were a racecar, how would it perform on the track? Is it a turbo-charged speed demon? A modified neon-lit tuner? A carefully restored hot rod with a pastel pink paint job? “I don’t think Enchanté is a racing car at all – they’re too uncomfortable and cramped. This wine is relaxed and it’s one to take your time with. I’d say it’s more like a classic convertible; those effortlessly cool cars that are understated and you can’t help but notice.”
He’s right. There’s an easy-going elegance here, helped along by that lovely pale salmon hue and those juicy red berry and floral aromas. “Enchanté Rosé is on the drier and lighter side of the spectrum,” Daniel tells us. “That is, vibrant, packed with fresh berry flavours and a crisp, clean mouthfeel.” There’s minerality there too, with just enough texture to keep things interesting but still approachable.
Pair it with creamy garlic prawns, a platter of cheeses and cured meats, or Daniel’s personal favourite: spaghetti alle vongole (especially his mum’s version, if you can cop an invite). “Just the simplicity of an Italian classic with fresh ingredients – you can’t go wrong,” he says. Now relishing the luxury of leisure time, it might be something Daniel is finally able to learn to make himself. “I’ve been surrounded by such amazing food at home and on the road, so you’d think I’d have picked up some skills along the way… Unfortunately not,” says Daniel. “The thought of my UberEats bill is horrifying, so I think I need to invest some time in the kitchen.”
Try Enchanté for yourself
This delightful rosé is now available in-store and online across the country, exclusively at Dan Murphy’s (or “Dan Murphé”, as the big man puts it). My Dan’s members can even nab it at a special price of $35 (down from $39.99) until 26 March, so now’s the time to pick up a bottle and start living a little more Enchanté.
Unlike Daniel, you may not be looking to do a full 180 on life, but you don’t have to. “The best tip I can give is keep things simple,” says Daniel. “Sometimes we naturally think events or activities need to be bigger, grander or with more bang – they really don’t. I’ve said it before but I truly do believe some of my best memories are those simple, unplanned moments where, more often than not, you’re sharing a meal, a drink or a sunset with good friends or family. That’s what we need to embrace more of.” Now that we can get behind.
