Sydney Bar Week’s opening party is an open-to-all affair, descending on one of Sydney’s most exciting bars (Bar Planet) not just for this Newtown hotspot’s already-famous Martinis, but also for a prosecco-infused cocktail journey from the folks at Unico Zelo. Expect Unico-infused Scorpinos (made famous on Bar Planet’s excellent TikTok), lashings of outstanding wine, and a tonne of great giveaways.

Both Katana Kitten and Maybe Sammy should be on everyone’s bar bucket list, so when you get the chance to attend a collab between the two, you grasp it for dear life. The acclaimed Rocks cocktail bar is linking up with the NYC highball institution for a welcomed night of Japanese-inspired revelry. Suntory Spirits like Roku Gin and Haku Vodka will be flowing (in cocktail form of course), while karaoke and dancing will top off the Tokyo dive-bar vibes.

Shining a spotlight on some of Australia’s best female bartenders, non-profit Mix Haus is teaming up with Door Knock to celebrate womxn in the industry the way they deserve. A killer all-female line-up of bartenders will be taking over the acclaimed Sydney CBD spot to further Mix Haus’s aim of fostering a sense of community and solidarity among womxn in what can sometimes be a challenging hospitality industry.

The use of native Aussie botanicals is a growing trend in drinks and bartending, but there are still countless frontiers of flavour yet to be fully explored. Held at Burrow Bar and hosted by Applewood/Okar, Marionette, and Yarra Falls, Next Generation Natives is set to shine a light on new ingredients and techniques, honed and perfected over thousands of years by our First Nations custodians.
