What drink to orderWhile Little Lon has short, smart lists of beer and wine, it would be perverse to roll up to a gin distillery and not try the star, or at least one of the other spirits on offer, like Little Lon’s absinthe or the espresso liqueur that’s put to such good use in its version of an Espresso Martini. For those wanting to remain gin-focused, flights are available where you get three of the gins – the rosemary-forward Proudfoot, citrusy Ginger Mick and fresh lychee-infused Miss Yoko – served with garnishes, ice, soda water and tonic. The cocktails are well worth considering, too. Negronis are done several ways and there’s an excellent version of the classic Gimlet, using a gin infused with blood orange and eucalyptus tea mixed with lime and ginger cordial, vermouth and grapefruit. Several of the cocktails can also be converted to mocktails, should you have a designated driver on board.
What to pair it withGiven the space restrictions, it’s not surprising that the snack list here is similarly compact. Still, Little Lon sticks to the “small is beautiful” philosophy, with quality olives, nuts and chips (as in fries, served with aïoli) sitting alongside fried chicken and a salty, cheesy garlic pizza. It’s not food that can stand in for dinner, but it will help keep you in good condition for the dinner to come.
