Because we love them so much, we’ve collaborated on another cocktail with our fave podcasters, Zara McDonald and Michelle Andrews, AKA Shameless. And, friends, this one’s a doozy. Drum roll, please – it’s the super zesty, wonderfully sweet, easy-drinking Bee’s Knees cocktail. Yes, we know, the Bee’s Knees cocktail is a very fabulous, very popular drink already, but our gal pals threw it all the way back to the roaring ’20s to channel millionaires. The original recipe comes from “The Unsinkable” Molly Brown – a proper character who got her badass nickname by surviving the Titanic.
Much like Mrs Unsinkable, Zara and Michelle are also characters. This is why we’ve done a couple of collabs with them recently (you can check out their Spicy Marg and Shameless Sour here). But if you haven’t heard of our fave dynamic duo before, they’re purveyors of all things pop culture. Think The Bachelor, celeb goss and influencer drama. Who doesn’t love a spot of tea?
Back to our 1920s Bee’s Knees rejuvenation. We asked our pals some important questions about what a Bee’s Knees means to them, starting with the most crucial question: If this cocktail was a song, what song would it be and why? “Knees of my Bees by Alanis Morissette if you’re feeling literal, Golden by Harry Styles if you’re feeling vibey.” We’re always vibing Harry Styles.
The Bee’s Knees cocktail is a super simple mix of gin, lemon and honey syrup (the most popular recipe has a lick of orange juice in it as well). It’s fresh, easy and amazing as an aperitif. So, who would our besties serve this cocktail to? “Our sisters! If they’re reading this, come on over, there are cocktails waiting for you.” Hold your horses, we’re coming!
