12 illustrated cocktails with stars to reflect each zodiac sign

Astrology meets mixology. This is what your star sign says about you.

What’s your star sign? What’s your rising? Not sure? We don’t believe you. Even if you swear astrology isn’t your thing, we think you’ll have a rough idea of what it’s all about. And we just know you’ve been at a party where someone’s exclaimed, “Ugh, you’re such a Sagittarius!” – whatever that means. Whether you read your horoscope religiously or couldn’t care less, we’re all about them and reckon there’s a cocktail to suit all 12 signs (and maybe even two for our Geminis).
Putting chilli oil on top of the Lao Gan Martini cocktail
Aries: Lao Gan MartiniAh yes, we all know a bold and adventurous Aries (March 21–April 19) – the type of person who’ll do anything on a dare and is proud of their lack of filter. They dive headfirst into life with fiery enthusiasm and a pioneering spirit. This fire sign deserves an equally fiery cocktail, one that proves chilli really can go on (or in) just about anything. The Lao Gan Martini is a fiery-meets-frosty drink that blends vodka, yuzu and lemon sorbet with a drizzle of cult-favourite Lao Gan Ma chilli oil. It’s zingy, spicy and totally unexpected. Whether you’re a full-blown chilli fiend or just curious about putting chilli oil in a cocktail, this one’s for you.
Taurus: Naked and FamousGrounded yet a little stubborn (they are a bull, after all), Taureans (April 20–May 20) are loyal to life’s pleasures and unapologetically drawn to the finer things. Steadfast, dependable and trustworthy, they deserve a cocktail that matches their refined taste. Enter the Naked and Famous. Don’t let the name fool you – this bold number has more to do with mezcal than modesty. It’s a modern classic, dreamed up at New York’s Death & Co. and made with equal parts mezcal, Aperol, Yellow Chartreuse and lime. Smoky, citrusy and perfectly balanced, it’s the love child of two iconic cocktails with a name lifted from a ‘90s Tricky track. This one’s all about harmony, heat and a whole lot of attitude.

Holding a vivid green Japanese Slipper cocktail, with some spilling
Gemini: Japanese SlipperWith a brain buzzing like a group chat and a mouth to match, Geminis (May 21–June 21) flit through life with quick wit, endless curiosity and enough charm to hold a conversation with a brick wall. They deserve an equally charming cocktail, which is why the Japanese Slipper comes to mind. Bright, bold and born in ’80s Melbourne, it’s a neon-green cocktail that became a nightlife icon. Created at the legendary Mietta’s by a young French bartender with a bottle of Midori and a new English word, it quickly earned cult status. With its zesty, fruit-forward flavour and signature maraschino cherry, it’s a retro classic still turning heads today.
Cancer: Spicy Mango MargaritaCancerians (June 22–July 22) have a sixth sense for vibes and a fridge full of snacks for emotional emergencies. They’re sensitive, nurturing, intuitive and deeply sentimental – and the type to text “home safe?” before you’ve even closed the door. Show a Cancerian in your life some reciprocal TLC by making them this summery twist on a spicy classic; it blends blanco tequila, orange liqueur, mango, lime juice and orange juice with a dash (or two) of hot sauce for heat. Blitzed with ice and served in a Tajin-rimmed glass, it’s a tropical crowd-pleaser that balances sweet, tart and fiery.

The Bourbon Cherry Cola is a bright, refreshing and easy cocktail
Leo: Bourbon Cherry ColaLeos (July 23–August 22)  are confident and charismatic, with a natural ability to stand out. They’ve got a generous spirit, love bringing a little extra flair to everything they do, and have a big personality. If you know a Leo, you know what we’re talking about. A cocktail with a little extra flair to match that of a Leo would have to be a Bourbon Cherry Cola. It’s a nostalgic twist on the classic bourbon and Coke, with a fruity kick from fresh Australian cherries and a dash of lemon juice. Simple to make, it’s a sweet, fizzy drink that balances flavours, with bourbon’s rich caramel notes complementing the cherry’s natural sweetness.
Virgo: PalomaThe Virgo’s (August 23–September 22) sharp mind and attention to detail makes them the ultimate perfectionists, always analysing and refining every little thing with precision. Their mind runs at a million miles an hour; honestly, it sounds exhausting to be a Virgo. They approach life with a practical mindset, ensuring everything is just right, down to the finest detail. Give the Virgo in your life a break from being a perfectionist and get them to focus on something a little simpler (and delicious): a Paloma. A vibrant pink cocktail that combines blanco tequila, lime and grapefruit soda for the perfect balance of sweet, sour and bubbly. With just a few simple ingredients, it’s as enjoyable to make as it is to drink.

The Carajillo is made from espresso and Licor 43
Libra: CarajilloDiplomatic, harmonious, charming and balanced, Librans (September 23–October 23) live for beauty, balance and keeping the vibes immaculate. Forever playing peacekeeper, they’re the friend who’ll bring (elite) snacks, smooth over drama, and still leave with the best-dressed title. A balanced star sign deserves a balanced cocktail, no? Not only is this cocktail literally balanced (only two ingredients), it’s also equal parts easy and impressive. The Carajillo blends fresh espresso with Licor 43 – a golden Spanish liqueur made from a secret mix of 43 botanicals – for a layered cocktail that’s rich, smooth and subtly spiced. Served shaken or layered (your call), it’s a bar-cart staple in Mexico and the US, and makes the perfect after-dinner pick-me-up.
Scorpio: Mexican MulePassionate and intense, Scorpios (October 24–November 21) move through life with magnetic charm and a deep desire to uncover what lies beneath the surface. They’re also totally comfortable with uncomfortable silences, and sometimes you can’t be sure if they’re serious or joking. Serve them a zesty twist on the classic Moscow Mule that swaps vodka for tequila. Born from the minds behind Olmeca Altos, the Mexican Mule is a three-ingredient cocktail that blends tequila, lime juice and spicy-sweet ginger beer over ice, served in a highball with a garnish of lime and crystallised ginger.

Jelly is on the bottom of the glass of the Mezcalita Trifle
Sagittarius: Mezcalita TrifleOptimistic and adventurous, Sagittarius (November 22–December 21) explores life with a philosophical mind and a boundless sense of freedom – think big ideas, spontaneous trips and zero tolerance for small talk. If life were a road trip, they’d be driving with the top down and no map in sight. This adventurous optimist deserves an equally adventurous cocktail: the Mezcalita Trifle. A playful, punchy Dan’s Daily original that’s part festive dessert, part cocktail and all drama (in the best way). Blending smoky mezcal with fresh fruit, agave and jelly, it’s a showstopping serve for grown-up guests.
Capricorn: Division BellCapricorns (December 22–January 19) are the spreadsheet queens and quiet overachievers of the zodiac – climbing to the top with main character energy, a five-year plan and zero time for your chaos. Think practical, driven and low-key running the show. A Division Bell is a bit of an overachiever, too, so it’s a pretty good match for Capricorns. Picture a smoky, citrusy riff on the classic Last Word, the Division Bell is a bold mezcal cocktail created by New York bartender Phil Ward – one of the key figures in bringing agave spirits into the spotlight. With its vibrant orange hue and perfectly balanced mix of mezcal, Aperol, maraschino and lime, this drink is a love letter to agave.

The Clarified Pina Colada is a clever twist on the creamy holiday cocktail
Aquarius: Clarified Piña ColadaAquarius (January 20–February 18) is the free spirit who marches to the beat of their own drum, constantly dreaming up fresh ideas and ways to improve the world. They may or may not believe in conspiracy theories, too. Independent and innovative, they’re all about creating a better future for those they love and themselves. Speaking of free spirits, we think a Clarified Piña Colada is right up an Aquarian’s alley. This smooth, clear version of the classic drink is made by clarifying ingredients like aged rum, coconut water, pineapple juice and fresh lime juice, combined with milk to create a silky texture without cream. Orgeat syrup adds a hint of marzipan for extra depth. The process might seem tricky, but with the right technique, you'll end up with a light, flavourful cocktail.
Pisces: Frozen Coconut DaiquiriPisces (February 19–March 20) are intuitive, compassionate and super creative, always in tune with others’ emotions. They’re empathetic, dreamy and have a natural artistic flair that makes them stand out in any crowd – just like a Frozen Coconut Daiquiri. The Daiquiri, born in Cuba’s beachside town of Daiquiri, has a rich history rooted in serendipity (Pisces coded). The Frozen Coconut Daiquiri adds a tropical twist on the OG with coconut cream and frozen coconut water, giving it a creamy, nutty flavour that brings the drink back to its sunny origins. Want to take it up a notch? Try it with tropical fruits or serve it in a coconut for extra flair.
