That’s all.

“Gird your loins” people, because the sequel you didn’t know you needed is about to drop. That’s right, the Devil is back and so is Emily – sorry, we mean Andy – and this time, they’re heading to Milan (we just hope Christian Thompson isn’t there).

If you’re in the 1% of people who’ve never seen The Devil Wears Prada, then here’s the 411. Miranda Priestly (based on the iconic Anna Wintour), executed perfectly by Streep, is a masterpiece. She’s the editor of Runway (read: Vogue) while Andy is a college graduate who doesn’t know the first thing about fashion. We don’t want to give too much away, but there’s a makeover, a Harry Potter mission and a lot of Starbucks.

If, like us, you’re gearing up for the sequel (it’s in cinemas on April 30, FYI), we have a hunch there’s plenty more glitz, glam and drama to come. To celebrate, we’ve curated eight cocktails so chic that you could confidently serve them to Miranda Priestly herself.

1. Espresso Martini
In the original film, Miranda requires a large Starbucks each morning (it was 2006, when coffee came in Slurpee cups, especially in the US). While her order is no doubt refined for 2026, there is telling detail in “no-foam, skim latte with an extra shot”. She likes her drinks strong and sans fuss (AKA foam). Our recipe is all killer, no filler: vodka, fresh espresso, coffee liqueur and sugar, shaken (very gently, as that’s what makes the foam). One sip and she’ll say dismissively, but also approvingly, “That’s all”.

2. Blue Lagoon
From the Resort Wear collection comes Blue Lagoon. Okay, this isn’t exactly a chic drink, but it is, however, and most iconically, cerulean blue. This is the colour Miranda monologues about in the original movie in a take-down of Andy’s lack of fashion nous. The colour of this cocktail is thanks to blue curaçao, a liqueur flavoured with the dried peel of laraha, a bitter citrus fruit descended from the Seville orange (the blue colour is, alas, entirely artificial). It’s sweet and sour, and yes, a bit kitsch, but with the self-referential angle Miranda would surely abide. Everyone has an ego.

3. Gimlet
The Gimlet is a very clean drink with a bit of zest and tang. Think Calvin Klein, capsule wardrobe, white cotton shift dress and chignon. Maybe a touch Martha Stewart (the botanicals from the gin), very Natasha Naginsky vibes. It even has a nautical origin story. Very Connecticut. Miranda might even put these on the menu at her own private soiree for close “friends”. We’d never be invited, but that is absolutely fine. Her approval is thanks enough.

4. Martini Highball
Fashion loves a classic reinvented. This is just that – a Martini made long, easy-drinking and crowd-pleasing. A short Martini is your typical serve with little more than gin (or vodka), vermouth and a garnish. A long Martini, on the other hand, gets topped up with soda water, which takes the edge off. Herbaceous, bitter but ultimately refreshing. Just like a show-stopping gown that completes a Dior show, Priestly approves.

5. Manhattan
Like the borough it originated in, the Manhattan is timeless and chic. With just three ingredients – whiskey, vermouth and bitters – it’s simple, elegant, a bit spicy, sweet and bitter. Its warm, amber colour gives autumn/winter, and there is something about the maraschino cherry, speared through the heart, that we think would appeal to the Devil herself.

6. Negroni
While the original film was all about Paris, the sequel takes us to Milan, where the best-dressed men dwell, and aperitivo is the ultimate scene. The Negroni is the traditional aperitivo drink, named for Count Camillo Negroni in the 1920s. It is cool and European, like a linen suit – like Gucci, Prada or Versace. Miranda would never miss Milan Fashion Week, or the customary Negroni. Cin cin!

7. Old Fashioned
When it’s been a week of uninspiring pitches, over-budget shoots and moody models, we imagine Miranda goes through The Book – the draft of the next issue that’s added to, ripped apart, filled and culled before it’s sent to print – not with a wine, but an Old Fashioned (bourbon, a twist of orange and an eyeroll. Perfection). This age-old cocktail relies on precision and balance – two things Miranda knows all about.

8. French 75
Gin and Champagne – what a pairing. It’s the kind of thing you’d expect Miranda to ask for, along with 10 or 15 skirts from Calvin Klein, Pier 59 at 8am tomorrow, “a few of those satchels that Marc is doing in the pony”, and Jackie if Maggie isn’t available. Served in a flute, there’s an opportunity to embrace your inner Philip Treacy and fashion a lemon twist fascinator.
