Shiraz and Tempranillo are wonderful partners, with Shiraz bringing fruit power with a peppery edge, and Tempranillo adding savoury elements and complex tannin structure.

Easy wine to like with attractive French oak notes adding polish. Cedar and sour cherry and chalky/minerally tannin. Dry licorice and game through the aftertaste. Builds fruit sweetness and volume given time to breathe. You have to like a bit of sourness and savouriness - and tannin - to dig this, but it's a wine that really grew on me over the course of a glass or two.

Far more approachable than the 2007 release was at the same age. Taking this as a good sign. It's an attractive mix of sweetness and sourness, smoothness and robust grippiness. It tastes of cherries, tobacco, liquorice and various wild, Australian bush-tucker spices. Juicy finish. Lovely fresh tarriness to the aftertaste. Nice wine, in its own style.
