With a varied and chequered past, Château Haut-Bages-Libéral has undergone many vineyard changes that saw plots lost or sold to neighbouring Château's. Their wines in recent times under the watchful eye of Claire Villars have gone from strength to strength with an impressive track record. The 2008 shows the slightly warmer vintage well with a dense perfume on the nose with typical blackcurrant concentration. Will surely reward the patient with a few years in the cellar.

...the earthy, spicy 2008 offers up notes of underbrush, red and black fruits and subtle smoke in its medium to full-bodied, solidly tannic, structured personality.
