Martinborough

Key Variety: Pinot Noir

Inland Martinborough (some 79km north east of Wellington) has a relatively warm micro-climate, surrounded by hills to the east and west. Vineyards are set upon dry riverbeds, which provide ideal soils for viticulture. Martinborough Pinots at their best are able to combine intense flavour with elegance and great structure.

Te Kairanga Runholder Pinot Noir

Te Kairanga Runholder
Pinot Noir 2007

‘This is rich and complex, yet manages to stay fragrant and silky as Pinot all too rarely does. Earthy, plummy and cedary. A very well made Pinot.’

Palliser Estate Pencarrow Pinot Noir

Palliser Estate Pencarrow
Pinot Noir 2009

‘Pencarrow may be the so-called ‘little brother’ of the prestige Palliser, however the quality, as we see again with the ‘09, often outshines many other NZ flagship Pinots.’
